01What makes the difference
The base, compaction, levels and slopes: that's where it's won or lost. Pavers on a base that's too thin look perfect the first year and start to sink by the third.
We dig as deep as our winters require, compact layer by layer and check the levels before thinking about looks. Only then do we move on to materials and colours.

02Our services
Patios, walkways, driveways and borders.
We dig down to firm soil, lay a geotextile membrane, build a crushed-stone base compacted in 4-inch layers, then set the pavers on a sand bed. Joints are filled with polymeric sand, which keeps out weeds and ants.
Decorative and retaining walls in block.
A wall lasts when it sits on a well-compacted footing and is properly backfilled behind the block. On a slope, we'd rather build several stepped walls than one tall one.
The groundwork for every landscaping project.
Before laying interlock, a wall or sod, the yard has to be prepared. We do it with our own machinery: stripping, levelling and soil hauling, always as part of your landscaping project.
A new lawn on good soil.
Sod only takes if the soil underneath is good. We loosen the ground, add 3 to 4 inches of screened topsoil, level it, then lay the sod with staggered joints and roll it right away.
Supply and installation. Green all year, no mowing or watering.
Ideal where real grass struggles: deep shade, slopes, dog areas, rooftop terraces and around the pool. Laid on a compacted base, it dries quickly after rain.
Plants chosen to survive our winters.
We work mostly with zone 4 hardy plants, set in good garden soil and covered with 3 inches of mulch. A well-planned bed gets better every year instead of needing a redo every spring.

We build seat walls, steps and lounge areas into the rest of the landscaping, so everything looks like it was planned together from the start.

For bigger projects we draw up a scaled plan with grades, surfaces, materials and planting. You see the result on paper before any work begins.
03Materials
We buy from established Quebec and Ontario suppliers. We never use cheap base material to save a few dollars.
Our standard base. Stones of mixed sizes lock together and compact into a solid foundation.
Used behind retaining walls. It stays stable and doesn't clog over the years.
It stops clay from working its way up into the base. One roll of fabric can save you from redoing everything in five years.
It hardens with water, blocks weeds and keeps ants from emptying the joints.
Screened to remove stones and roots, then enriched before the sod goes down.
High-density concrete block with a rear lip that automatically gives the wall the right lean.
04How we quote
Two patios the same size can differ twofold in cost depending on access, excavation volume and soil. A per-square-foot price would be wrong half the time. We'd rather measure and give you the real number.
A yard the mini-excavator can reach and one where everything moves by wheelbarrow are not the same job.
How deep we dig, the soil type, and how much material has to be hauled away.
Bare ground and an old surface to tear out are not the same job, or the same budget.
Paver format, block type and product range make a big difference to the cost.
